New York: 39 Defaults at Casa Mezcal

 From November 11 to December 2, 2012

39 Defaults, a play by Mar Gomez Glez, returns to Casa Mezcal, 86 Orchard Street, NYC,from November 11-December 2, 2012 after a successful run during the Teatro Stage Fest. All performances are at 7pm and run Sundays, November 11, 18, 25 and Tuesdays, November 13, 20, 27 and December 2. Tickets are $15 ($12 Students) and are available online athttp://39defaults-es2.eventbrite.com/?rank=1.

39 Defaults is directed by Julian Mesri and features Pep Munoz and Kelly McGrath. The play shows this interaction in real time. It takes place in an authentic living room and in this intimate setting; there will be no border between the piece and the audience, who participate in the performance as the invited "voyeurs" of the evening.

Mar Gómez Glez is a Spanish writer living in New York City since 2006. Her work has received global recognition including the 2011 Calderón de la Barca Theater Award, the 2008Arte Joven Latina Award and the 2007 Beckett Theater Award. She is the author of the novelCambio de sentido (2010, translated into English with the support of PEN American Center), the children's book Acebedario (2006) and numerous other short stories and plays, includingWearing Lorca's Bowtie, playing Off-Broadway in December 2011 (NYC) or the site specific piece 39 Defaults premiered at Teatro Stage Fest (NYC, 2012). She studies for a PhD and is aHumanities Initiative Fellow at New York University.
