Bronx: Pregones Theater
& PRTT: Hagiografías May 2 and 3; ¡Gaytino! May 9
Hagiografías (Hagiographies)
is a collage of theatrical vignettes which interculturally explores notions of
sainthood. In the Puerto Rico of the 1940´s, two pilgrims (peregrinos) wait for
a train in a ghost station. In New York, a vampire in a barbershop turns out to
be a graffitero that kills and resurrects images of saints on the streets by
painting over them. Chalk drawings and live computerized transcription
materialize the story of Bhasmasura, the demon in India who aspired to reach a
god. In a final episode, stories of saints´ lives, the meaning of names and the
sense of an always disappearing home come together in the desert.
Hagiografías moves between English and Spanish (as well as other real languages and invented ones). Amid this aural panorama, the play is intended to be experienced and understood in different ways, depending on your relationship with these tongues.
With the collaboration of the actors-technicians: Alejandra Maldonado, Christopher Cancel Pomales and Suácer Marmolejos. Text and stage direction by Aravind Enrique Adyanthaya.
Hagiografías is a workshop production of Casa Cruz de la Luna Theatre Company as part of Pregones Theater ASAP program.
With a double base, in New York City and in an old house in the historical district of San Germán, Puerto Rico, Casa Cruz de la Luna Theatre aspires to be a laboratory for performance experimentation in language, image and quotidian technologies.

SYNOPSIS: ¡GAYTINO! is a remarkable life journey from 1950s East LA to New York’s
Great White Way in the 60s and 70s and back to Hollywood! A gay Chicano moves
from the back of the bus to the front of American pop culture in this
autobiographical play with music.
The solo piece is driven by Dan Guerrero’s lifelong friendship with
Mexican-born artist and Chicano street arts pioneer Carlos Almaraz, and by the story of his father, Eduardo “Lalo” Guerrero, the singer and
activist widely recognized as The Father of Chicano Music. The show captures
truly vibrant decades in Mexican-American history and the gay experience from a
unique and delightfully personal perspective. Touching, provocative,
hilarious, and absolutely one-of-a-kind, Dan Guerrero brings two fascinating
worlds together in a riveting solo show. 90 minutes. Written and
