Sabrina Lastman Quartet in Rahway, New Jersey

Teatro Si presents @ Conservatory, a very unique concert with the very best of South American jazz, the Sabrina Lastman Quartet featuring Uruguayan vocalist/composer Sabrina Lastman (“She sings with irreproachable technical display, and unusual expressive intensity.” El Intruso Magazine), Argentinian pianistEmilio Solla (“Music of such beauty that it transcends boundaries of style to become a classic.” All About Jazz), Spanish double bassist Alexis Cuadrado (“Listen to Cuadrado’s compositions and you’ll find every reason to take him seriously.” Josh Jackson, NPR Music), and American drummer/percussionist David Silliman(“Dave Silliman, "the man with the four hands," is an engaging and versatile drummer/percussionist who often projects like multiple drummers. It is a sight to behold when Silliman plays the bass drum and the Cajon simultaneously.” Albany Jazz).

The
Sabrina Lastman Quartet is an innovative music project that brings together jazz, South American rhythms with African roots like Candombe (Afro Uruguayan Music), and contemporary music. This project represents the many influences that vocalist/composer Sabrina Lastman has received, while living in her home country Uruguay, in Israel, and more recently in New York. The Quartet plays original compositions, and arrangements of music by Latin American composers like Egberto Gismonti, and Ruben Rada. As a vocalist, Sabrina expands the possibilities of the voice, finding a rich variety of sonorities, colors, and textures.
